Roxy established Wawasi Children's Center in 2005, with the vision of creating a nurturing and inclusive environment for children. Inspired by the Montessori philosophy, Roxy wanted to provide a space where children could learn through play, develop self-respect, and grow in a diverse community. Over the years, Wawasi has become known for its personalized care, tight-knit community, and commitment to inclusivity. The school continues to thrive by offering year-round care with flexible enrollment options, ensuring that every child feels valued and cared for.
Roxy is originally from Peru, where she grew up surrounded by love, care, and respect for children. Her grandmother was a teacher, and her mother owned a preschool. Roxy began studying education at 18. After moving to the United States, she continued her studies and became a teacher, including at Garden Day Montessori School. She is passionate about serving children and paying attention to their individual needs. In a world full of changes, she feels strongly that we should teach children to be respectful, loving, and well nourished in body and mind. She and her staff of well-trained teachers strive to foster a learning environment filled with curiosity, playfulness, and inclusiveness.
